Sonnet for a Son
Being your mother makes me so proud,
Watching you grow, so tall, handsome, loud!
My beautiful child who filled me with joy,
Remembering when you were my baby boy,
Your whole life ahead,
The world at your feet,
Knowing one day you would leave..
Many years filled with good times and bad,
A heart full of memories, happy and sad,
A lifetime of living, a short space of time,
A gift taken back that can never be mine,
From boy to a man in the blink of an eye,
From life into death without saying goodbye,
It only hurts when I breath…
