Daddy’s Hands

DownUp -1

I remember daddy’s hands
bandaging my knee when I fell,
holding my hand when I started to walk.
Daddy’s hands pushed me on the swing when I was little
and taught me how to drive.
daddy’s hands showed me how to tie my shoes
and write my name.
I watered the tree in the front yard
and daddy showed me how.
I remember daddy’s hands holding me up
as I learned to ride my bike.
Though stern when I did wrong
daddy’s hands were always full of love.
And I remember holding daddy’s hand
as he walked me down the aisle to give me away.
Now my little girl has a pair of daddy’s hands
to call her very own.
Thanks daddy…

HISTORY OF LOVE

DownUp +4

Like moths drawn to a light.
Shyly try to find words right.
Communicate speech from eyes.
Tentively we romanced.
Natures lovers primative dance.
Cautiuosly bold, I spoke the words.
“In my arms I’d like to hold
you.”
Your reply, “that sounds cool.”
You wanted me, I wanted you.
Summer 72. we did the deed.
Planting seeds with recklessness.
Fabulous forest, we created.
Two souls truly mated.
You my Island,
swam in my sea.
And so began our history.

Thank You

DownUp -1

Sometimes I’m so discouraged,
Because of what some people say,
But I get so encouraged,
By the words you send my way.
Your helpfulness, your kindness,
Your never-ending love,
They all seem to be sent,
Straight from God above.
Your smile and your laughter,
Your eyes that are so true,
They always brighten up my day,
Like only you can do.
So, thank you for your kindness,
Thank you for your love.
Thank you God for this friend,
You’ve sent from heav’n above.

Sisters

DownUp 0

I consider myself very lucky
To have a sister;
A sister, who loves me for what I am,
Not for what others see me as,
Or for what I ought to be.
She loves me truly the way I am.
We’ve fought and patched up.
We’ve shared secrets of happiness and sadness
We’ve laughed until we cried,
And then we dried each other’s tears.
I look up to her (because she’s taller than me)
We don’t laugh at each other’s mistakes,
But help each other to correct them.
She prevents me from losing my temper,
I prevent her from losing her sense of judgement.
I know none of us are perfect,
But together, we help each other to become so.
Thanks, sister

Friends

DownUp 0

Childhood reflections
Flash by in my mind
The wonderful moments
I’ve known in my time
With my friends
Who plays an important part
In the deepest emotions
Of my own heart

Friends
You have just floated by
In the corridors of time
Of my mind
When I need affirmation
Or a little help and encouragement
You always seem to be in the situation
And fill me with confidence …

There isn’t a single thought
That you are not aware of
You help me whenever help is sought
We share a kind of friendship
The kind that can never be bought …

Your care and concern for me
Is like the sunshine
Gleaming and blazing
Into my world
Dispelling the gloom of loneliness …

When I slip alone in the darkness
I realise
I have never been alone
Because you are always
There beside me
And I do not feel condoned

You bring joy to my life
You are my friends
I give you thanks
And praise God for friends

Friends
You have just floated by
In the corridors of time
Of my mind …

Teacher

DownUp 0

Before the world goes dull
I need just one more favor
Ideas start dancing in your mind
Like as if the world will die

I give you this for some help
You take and use it well
But there’s just one problem
You broke the promise you just couldn’t keep

You told those terrible things
Behind my furious face
I know I can’t be mad forever
I think to myself
He is a lying nitwit
But I know deep down he did it to help me, after all

I am like a sick dog now
I haven’t eaten in days
Now I know it’s time to talk
Say I’m sorry and thanks

You did what I wanted
Even if it hurt me
It sure beats what could have happened
If I got more stupid

Now I’m in treatment
And I can’t thank you more
I’m feeling a whole lot happier
And it’s all because of you!
(Thank You Teacher)

I Thank You

DownUp -1

I thank you mother,
You’ve always been there for me,
No matter what the circumstances,
Even when I lost the will to be.

I thank you father,
You always made me want to try.
You’re the strongest man I know,
You were never afraid to cry.

I thank you sisters,
You’ve taught me who to be.
No matter what will happen,
You’ll always be a part of me.

I thank you friends,
You’ve taught me the fun things in life.
We’ve always been able to laugh,
Even when lost in a strife.

I thank you my best friend,
You taught me things about myself that I never understood.
Even though sometimes it was hard,
You helped me focus on the good.

I thank you pets,
You always come with me when I’m out for a walk.
Even though you can’t answer back,
I know you care when we’re having a talk.

I thank you teachers,
I’ve learned a many things.
I can now read and write,
About the miracles that life seems to bring.

I thank you angels,
Even though I may not have seen you,
I know you’ve always been out there,
Looking down upon me as I grew.

I thank you God,
You’ve never left my side.
Even though sometimes I doubted you,
You knew I’d break out of that stride.

It is thanks to you all,
That I am who I am today.
I could not have done it without you,
Here to help me along the way.

I thank you!
