Star

DownUp 0

Star is our
beautiful baby girl
with a tiny soul
so
sweet and new,
That your Daddy and I
knew
that the world
was waiting for
an
adorable little girl
just like you…

Baby

DownUp -1

A wee bit of heaven
drifted down from above -
A handful of happiness,
a heartful of love.

The mystery of life,
so sacred and sweet -
The giver of joy
so deep and complete.

Precious and priceless,
so lovable, too -
The world’s sweetest miracle,
baby, is you.

Baby Song

DownUp 0

At first you didn’t lift your head;
You didn’t know to smile.
The time before you knew my voice
Seemed such a long, long while.
I couldn’t wait for you to roll,
And then to sit and clap.
And now you’re off and crawling,
Not helpless in my lap.

Why didn’t someone tell me
How fast a baby grows,
That every little baby stage
Soon comes, but sooner goes.

So I’ll enjoy the fleeting time
Before you learn to walk.
And treasure every tiny noise
Before you learn to talk.

For soon you’ll learn to walk,
Then run,
And talk and sing a song,
And never be my babe again.
The babe’s forever gone.
Little baby, take your time,
For while you’re tiny, you are mine.

The Sweetest Gift

DownUp 0

One day a mother went to a prison
To see an erring but precious son.
She told the warden how much she loved him.
It did not matter what he had done.

She did not bring to him a parole or pardon free.
Brought no gold, no pomp or style to see.
It was a halo bright, sent down from heaven’s light,
The sweetest gift — a mother’s smile.

She left a smile you can remember.
She’s gone to heaven, from heartaches free.
Those walls around you could never change her.
You were her baby, and ‘ere will be.

For My Baby

DownUp 0

My baby has fallen asleep.
Finally his chest moves up and down.
His soft curls at his ear.
He smells clean, soapy from his bath.

I know him inside out.
The creases at his elbow,
The plumpness of his cheeks.
What makes him coo or cry,
Is part of me.

He’s wrapped just in a towel.
That’s how he fell asleep
and so
I left him like that
I would not want to wake him
Or
We would both be up the night
And I’ve only just taught him to sleep -
Four hours at a go.

It is a precious thing to be needed so, by
Such an innocent.
Relied on entirely for sustenance,
My maternal heart moulds his life,
His days.

And yet it does get tiresome for
I have a daughter to think of too.

My baby lies asleep
And I am wide awake.
Feeling how much I love him.
Dreaming of what he will become

I hope to drift off soon
For in but a moment
The alarm clock will sound
And it will be time to get
My baby up for work.

Brand New Little Daughter

DownUp +2

She´s your brand new little daughter,

so enchanted, sweet and smart.

With a coo, she´ll have you smiling

With a laugh, she´ll own your heart.

It´s the time for hugs and kisses,

Reassurance when she cries.

It´s the time for making moments

Full of love and Lullabies.

For these golden days of childhood

come and go so very fast -

Hold her tight and love her dearly.

Make these preciouse moments last.
