Alone.
Most of my days pass the same way.
I stare out the window,
Time passes,
The night awakens.
My imagination brings me your pictures,
Your smell,
Your touch.
I shiver as I feel your finger trace around my lips,
Longing for the day,
When you might return to kiss them again.
Waiting,
Here,
I stay,
In your memory.
Your colored shadows haunt me everyday.
I see you,
Roses color your cheekbones,
And calm rivers flow through your eyes,
Wrapping ‘round my body.
They incapacitate me.
I’m helpless under your sweet breath.
I lie in my bed,
Every dusk,
With your only memory,
Your half torn, and wrinkled photo,
Held close to my heart.
Slowly over the hours of darkness,
My heart heals again.
Your presence keeps me together.
And then the sun’s rays bring the first signs of day,
Stabbing through me, shattering my imagination.
I return to truth.
The sad life that I have to live.
Without you.
Alone.
