Mirrors Don’t Lie

DownUp +20

No-one seems to understand
What it’s like to look like me
What it feels like to wake up every morning
and see a face
which brings you to tears
A face which no-one loves
My friends say their ugly
but when they don’t know is that
it makes me feel 10x worse
they don’t know
what it’s like to hate your image, starve yourself and
To almost cry every time you see your reflection
my friends are so pretty
why can’t I look like them?
Why can’t boys turn their heads at me?
Because I am ugly
and that’s the way I was intended to be.
