Dying To Fit In

DownUp +9

Walking through the halls of school
Feelings of self-consciousness abound
Everyone’s trying to come off as “cool”
Gaining popularity wherever it can be found
In a world where you just can’t win
Everyone is dying to fit in
You know it’s not right
Pretending to be something you’re not
You die a little every night
When you give that idea a second thought
You feel alive before the lies begin
But everyone is dying to fit in
Cut yourself into pieces
To fit the common mold
Your love for yourself decreases
But you “look good”-or so you’re told.
In a world where beauty doesn’t lie within
Everyone is dying to fit in
Stab your friend in the back
If it gets you further ahead
As you take your place in front of the pack
You can wonder if they’re dead
In a world where truth has never been
Everyone is dying to fit in
Anger. Regret. Pain.
Things we all know clearly.
We all know suicide is insane
But still it takes away those we love dearly.
In a world riddled with terrible sin
Everyone is dying to fit in
